How many times can I use Kwiktwist?

If Kwiktwist is bent in the same spot repeatedly, the internal wire will most likely break at twenty five (25) uses. We suggest that you twist the product in various sections when using it for different applications. If the internal wire breaks or has broken through the foam then we recommend the product be discarded.

What is the best method to tie or fasten objects?

We recommend that your twists be close together, as illustrated on the back of our package. Also, we recommend that you twist the product using three (3) twists. The "tightness" of the twists and the "number" of twist has a direct bearing on the holding capacity.

Can I tow a car using Kwiktwist?

No, Kwiktwist is not designed to be a towing mechanism. Please refer to the weight limitations when using the product.

What are the uses of Kwiktwist?

Kwiktwist can be used anywhere a person would normally use rope or a bungee chord. It can be used to secure an item to a fixed place or hang an item in your garage or work truck. Since Kwiktwist is very lightweight, it is easy to store in your car, garage or household cabinet.

What is the advantage of Kwiktwist over bungee chords or ropes?

All of these items have a useful place for the consumer. Some ropes are designed to carry a heavier load and are a more permanent tying apparatus. Bungee chords may be useful in other situations. Kwiktwist is designed to wrap, hang or tie an item quickly, as well as to remove it quickly. With no metal ends, Kwiktwist will not scratch a painted surface.

What is the best way to attach items using Kwiktwist?

We recommend attaching items using the twisted ends on a 90 degree angle from the items being secured. We also recommend using three tight twists when securing items.

Why does Kwiktwist recommend attaching items using a 90 degree angle to the item being secured?

Kwiktwist has been tested with load bearing rods placed inside a loop made from the product. The greatest strength was found when the pressure was not against the twisted ends but at a 90 degree angle from the twisted ends.

How much weight will Kwiktwist hold?

We have had an independent laboratory do complete testing for load capacity. It will hold 100 pounds before the twists begin to unravel. The full report can be downloaded from our website.

What about the strength of your threaded ends if I connect two pieces together?

Load tests to determine the strength of our threaded ends for extension have been made. The threaded ends are as strong as the wire itself.

Will Kwiktwist rust if water seeps thru the foam?

The interior components consist of a heavy gauge steel alloy wire covered with a plastic shield. Unless, the plastic shielding over the internal wire is cut or split, the wire will not begin to rust.

Will the brass threads rust?

Brass parts do tarnish but the initial corrosion protects against long-term attack. However, we would recommend keeping the brass ends dry. If they are exposed to wet conditions, you may consider using a rust preservative spray to avoid a rust buildup.

How can I make a circle using the threaded ends of Kwiktwist?

The threaded ends are designed to extend one or more pieces of Kwiktwist. If a circle is desired and you do not want to have twisted ends in view, we recommend using a swivel coupling. A swivel connection can be found at your local hardware stores.

Is Kwiktwist resistant to gasoline or chemicals?

No, the exterior foam is not impervious to chemicals. The density of our foam is soft and easy to form but will not withstand harsh chemicals such as household cleaners, gasoline, or other industrial chemicals.
